Transforming a Traditional Seafront Home
When a beautiful detached property overlooking the Cleveleys promenade needed a complete transformation, the owners turned to PH Build Group to deliver a substantial renovation and three-storey home extension.

A Three-Storey Extension with Uninterrupted Sea Views
The centrepiece of the project was the construction of a new three-storey side extension, incorporating a garage and creating valuable additional living space across the property.
One of the standout features is the new middle-floor balcony, complete with large sliding doors and a frameless-style glass balustrade. This creates a seamless connection between the interior and exterior while making the most of the property’s spectacular seafront position.
The new extension was designed to complement the existing building. New materials were carefully selected to remain in keeping with the original architecture, ensuring the addition feels like a natural part of the property rather than a separate structure.
Respecting the Original Architecture
The existing home was constructed using traditional load-bearing brickwork, with a traditional hipped and pitched roof, fine proportions and distinctive ashlar stone detailing. Preserving these characteristics was an important part of the renovation.
PH Build Group carefully cleaned and re-pointed the existing brickwork, while the new external construction was finished with matching materials and detailing.
The project also included the removal of one chimney and the installation of a completely new roof across the existing property and new extension. The roof was finished using premium Westmorland slate, providing a durable and visually impressive finish that complements the character of the original building.
A new set of external brick steps leads to a modern entrance door, with a distinctive mini door and post box cleverly incorporated beneath the staircase.
Creating a Complete Outdoor Environment
The external transformation extended well beyond the main building.
A new iron gate, resin-bound gravel driveway, flagstone pathways and new perimeter brick walling were installed to create a cohesive approach to the property.
The garden was also redesigned to provide spaces for relaxing and entertaining. Two bespoke summer houses were constructed: one creating a communal seating area and another designed specifically as a hot tub house. Both spaces are surrounded by decking, creating a practical and inviting outdoor environment that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
A Complete Internal Renovation
Inside, the property underwent a complete back-to-brick strip-out and refurbishment. The existing layout was reconfigured to create modern, practical spaces suited to contemporary family living.
New room layouts and stud walls were introduced, alongside new oak doors that add warmth and character throughout the home.
Where possible, original features were retained to preserve the property’s identity. An internal stained-glass partition and sections of the original wooden flooring were carefully preserved and incorporated into the newly renovated interiors.
This balance between old and new was central to the project, allowing the home to benefit from modern functionality without losing its original charm.
Modern Heating and Intelligent Technology
Behind the traditional exterior, the property now benefits from modern, energy-efficient technology.
PH Build Group installed a new air source heat pump alongside underfloor heating, providing an efficient and comfortable heating solution throughout the renovated home.
